In the transport industry, every kilogram counts. The lower the unladen weight, the greater the payload that can be carried, allowing for more efficient use of available resources. With the Power Line Cargo, Schwarzmüller is presenting a vehicle solution at IAA Transportation 2026 that has been precisely tailored to these requirements.
The sliding tarpaulin semi-trailer forms part of the joint exhibition stand of the KRONE Commercial Vehicle Group and exemplifies the combination of lightweight construction, flexibility and practicality. The Power Line Cargo really comes into its own where every tonne of payload determines economic viability on a daily basis.
At the heart of the concept is a lightweight frame made from high-strength fine-grained steel. Thanks to the optimised design, the unladen weight has been reduced without compromising on stability and load-bearing capacity. The semi-trailer is designed for a gross vehicle weight of 39 tonnes and offers a load compartment approximately 13.6 metres long.
“For us, lightweight construction does not mean making sacrifices, but rather intelligent design. Our customers expect vehicles that operate economically, enable high payloads and, at the same time, withstand the demands of day-to-day transport operations. That is exactly what the Power Line series stands for,” explains Ferdinand Hamedinger, product expert at Schwarzmüller.
The vehicle also impresses with its versatility in day-to-day operation. The sliding roof allows for quick loading and unloading from above, whilst the adjustable centre pillars support a variety of loading configurations. This makes the semi-trailer suitable for a wide range of transport tasks – from palletised goods to complex general cargo shipments.
For the operator, the focus is not only on payload but also on safety and cost-effectiveness. The Power Line Cargo on display features, amongst other things, tyre pressure monitoring, axle load display and telematics readiness. At the same time, high-quality components such as SAF axles, aluminium rims and modern driver assistance systems ensure reliable operation in long-haul transport.
Lightweight construction as part of the overall concept
As part of the joint trade fair presentation under the motto “Built as one”, Schwarzmüller demonstrates how different transport solutions work together across the entire value chain. Whilst other vehicles in the group transport raw materials, building materials or recyclables, the Power Line Cargo represents classic freight transport and is therefore a central component of modern supply chains.
“Anyone wishing to make transport more cost-effective needs to adjust many different factors. Vehicle weight is one of the most important of these. With the Power Line Cargo, we offer a solution that follows precisely this approach and provides our customers with a measurable advantage day in, day out,” said Hamedinger.
