Coils are among the most challenging goods to transport by road. Heavy weights, specific requirements for load securing and varying operational profiles call for vehicles that can do far more than simply transport steel coils. At IAA Transportation 2026, KRONE is therefore presenting a Coil Liner that is not only designed for traditional steel transport, but also offers additional flexibility in day-to-day operations thanks to new solutions.
The KRONE Coil Liner on display in the outdoor area combines the vehicle’s well-known strengths with a new development: the KRONE lightweight coil cover. This innovative cover makes the specialist coil transporter even more versatile and comfortable in day-to-day use.
Anyone who transports coils today is familiar with the challenge: the coil trough must be securely covered, whilst at the same time the vehicle should remain as flexible as possible for other transport tasks. This is precisely where KRONE comes in. The new lightweight coil cover consists of modern aluminium sandwich components and significantly reduces the weight of the individual cover elements. This makes handling easier for drivers and noticeably improves ergonomics in day-to-day use.
A further advantage becomes apparent when the vehicle is used for purposes other than traditional coil transport. Thanks to the new design, the permissible forklift axle load increases from 5.4 to 7 tonnes. This significantly broadens the Coil Liner’s range of applications, allowing the vehicle to be used even more flexibly in a wide variety of loading situations.
The Coil Liner on display features an 8.6-metre-long coil trough, numerous load-securing options with a Multi-Lock outer frame, recessed heavy-duty lashing eyes and stanchion pockets, as well as modern driver assistance and telematics solutions. These include, amongst others, KRONE Smart Tyre Monitoring, Connected TPMS and KRONE Telematics Premium.
“The Coil Liner is a prime example of how we are continuously refining existing vehicle concepts. The new lightweight coil cover makes our customers’ day-to-day work easier, increases the vehicle’s flexibility and, at the same time, improves cost-effectiveness. These are precisely the solutions that make a difference in the day-to-day transport business,” explains Michael Lehmann, Product Manager at KRONE Trailer.
Visitors to IAA Transportation 2026 will be able to experience the KRONE Coil Liner up close in the outdoor exhibition area and find out about the benefits of the new lightweight coil cover. It demonstrates that innovation does not always stem from completely new vehicle concepts, but often from intelligent refinements that make everyday life noticeably easier.
