Full train from Werlte to Nuremberg reduces CO₂ emissions and ensures efficient handling

KRONE has delivered new trailers to the Geis Group in a particularly resource-efficient manner: the units, destined for Geis Eurocargo GmbH in Nuremberg, were transported by rail from the KRONE factory in Werlte to Nuremberg. In total, the dedicated train comprised 30 trailers.

The mix of vehicles delivered included KRONE Mega Liners, Profi Liners and Dry Liners. This provides Geis with versatile trailer solutions for a range of requirements in day-to-day logistics operations, from volume-optimised transport and general tarpaulin-covered haulage to enclosed box body applications.

The focus of the delivery was on efficient and sustainable handling. By consolidating the transport by rail, around 12 tonnes of CO₂ were saved compared with a conventional road transport. At the same time, the number of road kilometres was reduced and the vehicles were delivered to their destination in a coordinated logistics process.

“For us, sustainable logistics does not begin with the subsequent use of the vehicles, but right from the delivery stage,” says Christian Hackl, Head of Central Fleet Management at Geis. “The rail transport from Werlte to Nuremberg demonstrates how environmental considerations can be meaningfully integrated into existing logistics processes.”

KRONE itself also regards the delivery as a successful example of a collaborative and forward-looking logistics solution. “With the full train, we were able to hand over a large number of trailers to our customer in a consolidated, predictable and resource-efficient manner. Rail offers a particularly strong opportunity to simplify transport processes, especially for large-scale deliveries,” explains Dr Frank Albers, Managing Director of Sales & Marketing at KRONE Trailer.

The trailers were prepared for rail transport at KRONE’s Werlte site and then transferred directly to Nuremberg. There, they were handed over to Geis. For the customer, this meant a consolidated delivery with clear predictability and a significantly reduced environmental footprint.
